Test Reults
The doctor called me yesterday afternoon and gave me my results from the bloodwork for my glucose test. She said I passed the test. Thank God! She said the sugar level was just fine but my iron count was a little low. The hemoglobin count was 11 and should be in between the 11.5 - 15 range. The hematocrit count was 32 and should be between 34 - 44 range. Since it was low, she said I need to start taking an iron supplement each day along with my prenatal vitamins for the rest of my pregnancy. She said it was common and nothing to worry about it.

Dr. Appt
I went to the doctor today for a check up and to take my glucose test. I will not know the results from the blood work for the glucose test till Friday so we'll see if I passed it or not. The checkup was good. She was moving all around and got to hear her heartbeat. Her heartrate was 158. She is measuring on time to her due date. I gained 7 lbs. since my last appt 5 weeks ago! I guess I ate too much at Thanksgiving because I should've only gained 5 lbs (1lb/week) since my last appt. So that's a total of 11 lbs that I've gained so far. The doctor said that's good though for my weight category and considering it's the holidays. I go back to the doctor on Jan. 13th for another check up.

It's a GIRL!
We found out today that we are going to have a baby girl! We were surprised since we both thought boy but we are very excited and happy it's a girl. Everything looked healthy from the sonogram. The baby was measuring on time with the due date. Heartrate was 149. She was in the 55 percentile for her size right now. The doctor said that's good. I go back to the doctor on Dec. 15th for a check up and to take my glucose test.

I gained 1 lb. since my last visit 4 weeks ago. She said I should start gaining more soon though. I get to find out the gender of the baby on Nov. 8th and can't wait!

First Trimester
Well today is my last day of my 1st trimester and it seems like it has flown by. This trimester has been filled with lots of changes and emotions. My body is changing daily which is amazing to watch my belly grow and know that a human being is inside it. I have been tired alot but that's expected! I have felt queasy and nauseated a few times but thankfully not every day. However, I got sick this morning and evening so let's hope that doesn't happen again. This trimester really hasn't been too bad on me though. I'm looking forward to no nausea, getting my energy back and finding out the gender of our baby in the 2nd trimester! :)

Dr. Appt
I went to the Doctor today for a check up. I had to get blood work done this time. If you know me, I hate needles! I know, I need to get used to them now though. She had trouble finding my vein so I got poked a few times which hurt but I'm okay now :) I got to hear the heartbeat again today. It was 178. Last time, the heartrate was 160. The doctor said everything looked good. I go back to the doctor on October 11th to hear the heartbeat again. It's such a neat sound. Can't wait to hear it again!

Intelligender Prediction Test
I took the gender test this morning just for fun since I have another 2 months before I can find out the gender of the baby. It says it's 90% accurate but I will not believe it until I get confirmation at the gender sonogram in November. If the color of the urine stays orange/yellowish then it's a girl and if it turns into a dark green color then it's a boy. See pictures below for the test results :)
Boy or Girl?
That color doesn't match up to be a GIRL.
Test says it's a BOY!

Chinese Gender Chart
I'm pretty sure this is just a myth but thought I'd look it up anyway to see what the Chinese Birth Gender Chart predicts for the gender of our baby. The chart says it will be a Boy!

Sharing the news
So we finally told our families over the weekend! Here is a picture of when we told my mom, mammaw and the kids at my sister's house last Thursday night. We were eating Johnny's pizza and Rex ran thru the kitchen with his "I'm going to be a big brother" shirt on. Elizabeth picked him up to see what it said and Taylor Grace read it out loud. It was neat getting to see their reactions. They are excited but not very shocked. I guess they all had an idea that it was coming soon!
We told Ben's family on Friday night at his parent's house while we were all sitting out on the back porch. Again, Rex ran onto the porch with his shirt on to tell them the news! They were all excited as well but seemed a little shocked! We were glad some people were finally suprised!
We told my other Mammaw, Aunts and my Dad on Sunday. They were all happy and my Dad is hoping for a boy! We just told a few of our close friends today over the phone, texts, email and Skype. We are glad that our close family and friends know the good news now!

Dr. Appt
I went to the Doctor today. Nothing fun though. It was just a Q & A type meeting with the doctor. She answered alot of my pregnancy questions and gave me several pamphlets and info to read. I go back to the Dr. on Sept. 13th. I've been feeling nauseated alot lately so I'm hoping that will go away really soon!

Dreams
So my sister calls me this morning to tell me that she had a dream lastnight that I was pregnant and expecting twin girls! Wow, what a crazy dream. Then one of my bestfriends, Miranda, emails me today to tell me that she's been having dreams lately that I'm pregnant and had a dream lastnight that I was expecting a boy! Of course, I told both of them they were just dreaming since we haven't told anybody the big news yet. It was so hard not to tell them the truth though.
I know Anna Brooke has a feeling that I am pregnant since she told my mom and my nieces a week or so ago that she thinks I am. She only thinks that because I wasn't drinking one night in July while out with her and my friends in Monroe. I told her I just had a headache. I didn't know I was pregnant then but had a feeling that I was. I hadn't had anything to drink since my birthday in June though. My niece, Taylor Grace, even asked me to send her a picture of me (full body) so she could see if I had a belly or not. HA! I sent her one but made sure I had on a bigger shirt so she couldn't tell.
Anyways, I just think it's so neat how people can dream something that is somewhat true, the pregnancy part, and they have never had those dreams before. I know Anna Brooke's dream will not come true since we know we are only expecting 1 baby but Miranda's might come true. I've had a few dreams since I became pregnant and was pregnant in the dreams but none of my dreams talked about the sex of the baby.

First Dr. Appt
Today was my first Dr. Appt. It went really well. We didn't get to see the doctor though because she was called out to deliver a baby shortly after we got there. We got to see her nurse/assistant though. Ben and I got to see our baby for the first time and hear the heartbeat! It was so neat and surreal. The nurse said the baby was measuring 7wks and 3 days so my due date is still April 1st (April Fool's Day). She said our baby was about a 3rd of an inch right now. Baby's heartrate was 160 which she said was very good. I was so happy to hear everything was going okay so far. I will go back to the Dr. next Monday to meet with her to go over everything and have a Q & A session :)

Update
Well it's been 2 weeks now since we found out we are expecting a baby! I'm now 5 1/2 weeks pregnant. We haven't told anybody yet which has been very hard to keep secret but we think it's best to keep it to yourself until after you go to the Doctor to make sure everything is okay and we'd like to tell our families in person. I'm going to the Doctor on Aug. 16th and can't wait. I'd like to go next week but my doctor is on vacation all week so I can't. So 2 more weeks until our 1st doctor visit. Also, nobody knows about this blog right now so by the time you are reading this post you will already know we are expecting!
In the meantime, I have been eating lots of fruits, dairy, etc. and of course taking prenatal vitamins which I was taking before we starting trying for a baby. I have been feeling okay. I've been VERY tired all the time. I haven't gotten sick but I have felt queasy a few times. I've had some lower back pain but it comes and goes and doesn't last long.. I've been reading up every chance I get on pregnancy and trying to learn everything I should know.

Rex
I guess we could say that Rex has given us some practice on parenthood. He has gotten us somewhat ready for a baby. Although, we know a baby is much different than an animal. He was excited when we told him the news that he was going to get a baby brother or sister next Spring. He got a new shirt and was proud to wear it! HA! Let's just all hope that he does well with a small baby in the house. Soon he will not be the only one in the house chewing on a teething ring :)

Telling Ben the BIG news!
This is how I told Ben the BIG news! I found out this morning I was pregnant by taking several pregnancy tests before I went to work. Ben was still asleep. We both had a feeling for the last few days that I was pregnant just by some symptoms I was feeling but he didn't know I was going to take a test that morning since technically I was suppose to wait till Thursday to take it. When he got home from work today, I had Rex put a piece of paper in his mouth that said on the paper "My mommy is going to have a baby"... Rex usually will run through the house and tear up any paper he can find so this was somewhat normal. Ben was getting ready for his softball game when I told him to get the paper from Rex's mouth since he was running that way. Ben wasn't really paying attention but when he finally read the paper, it was priceless! He smiled very big and said Really? I said yes and we just hugged. He couldn't believe it. It was a special momemt for us.
Great News!
Today, July 19th, was an amazing day. Ben and I found out that we are expecting our first baby! :) We are beyond excited. I was kind of in shock for a few minutes when I read the pregnancy test so I took several more. I couldn't believe I got pregnant on the first month of trying. We feel very blessed that we didn't have to endure the disappoint each month to see "not pregnant" on a pregnancy test that many couples have to go through. I got off birth control in January and we had a plan that we would start trying this summer so we could hopefully have a Spring baby. We thought it might take months of trying and there is always that possibility in the back of your head of what if I can't have kids but we were fortunate that it worked out for us.
I've always said that I wanted to be married for a few years before having a baby, that I'd like to be 27 or 28 when having my 1st baby and that I'd like to get pregnant in the summer time so I would have my baby in the spring time and not have to be 9 months pregnant in the Texas summer heat. I really couldn't believe that everything I had planned and wanted was actually happening. It was like a dream come true! We are thanking God for this little miracle and praying for a healthy pregnancy and baby. We should have our baby around April 1, 2011.
Also, my sister in law, Jennifer, who found out in June she was pregnant had her first dr. appt today and she said all is well with the baby. Such a blessing. She is due on February 24th. I can't believe we are going to have babies around 5 weeks apart.

Rex's 1st Birthday

As most of you know, Rex is like our baby and we treat him like one. He is a great dog that we love very much. He just turned 1 today, July 14th. He has taught us many things and kept us quite entertained for the last year. He got to eat a doggie cake and wear his birthday shirt today! He was one happy dog :) We plan to do this every year on his birthday and we hope he has many more!
